As we all know any topic can lead to a mountain of learning and information out there. There is no shortage of data out there to help you do your homework and research the best running belt for you.

The best path is to simply first identify what’s most important to you. What are your drivers that led you here to buy a running belt? Hydration? Need to carry my keys? Don’t want to carry my phone? Whatever that reason was is what you should look for first and then choose the belt to best meet you needs.
As with any running gear purchase there are many options, designed by, created by and used by runners themselves. So if it is out there, it’s a good solution for someone or some specific set of needs.
This is especially true for beginning runners and exercisers who have many things to consider in their new endeavors. If you are new to the sport, don’t be intimidated, the large number of choices and offerings is a great thing – you’ve got options. Just stick to your basic needs and wants and find your perfect solution.
What Should I Carry In My Belt?
Well this list could go on for days, but we all know that’s not practical. Here’s a good stand by rule for things that you ‘need‘ in your running belt. What is necessary to have with you to give you piece of mind, comfort, and support on your run?
Rather keep your keys with you instead of using a magnetic key box in your wheel well? Toss them in your running belt. Need hydration or energy drinks for a long run? Make sure you buy a hydration model belt.
Need your phone with you? Throw it in there. Need meds or band-aids and such for an injury? Plenty of room. You can see where this is leading. If you need it, take it, just try to keep a reasonable set of items so as to now bog you down.
Fit And Positioning Of Your Belt Properly On Your Waistline
Fit and Comfort are key here obviously. Depending on how your belt attaches this could be easy to accomplish or maybe sometimes not so easy. If you belt has an adjustable strap, you should be able to control how much tension is on it making it easier to hold your belt in place.
Rule #1 is that the basic laws gravity are involved here so the belt will slide down, dependent on the weight of it, to the slimmest part of your waist until it fits snuggly. If the straps are adjustable you should be able regulate the fit accordingly so you can eliminate any bouncy belts.
If your belt is of a loop design and made of a stretchable fabric, it will basically find it’s own resting spot on that same slimmest part of your waistline. So be careful when purchasing this type of belt and be aware of where it might position on your torso.
My Music Is On My Bulky Phone
While there are differing opinions on listening to music during your run, the simple fact is that MANY runners do listen to music during their runs. And again, many of these listeners use the music apps on their smartphones. Running and fitness watches have made great strides in integrating music apps into their watches, thus eliminating the need to carry a bulky phone just for your music.
There are many top quality running watches out there developed by leading manufacturers such as Polar, Garmin, Fitbit, Apple and others.
