About Us

Welcome from Kerry

Hi everyone and welcome to Shamrock77 Runners – Running Info/Reviews for All Seasons website.  Read on to learn a little about us at Shamrock 77 I’ve been a runner for most of my life – learned to walk at about 12 months and running soon followed. Been doing it ever since. Leisure Running, on the other hand, has been part of my life for the better part of the last 25+ years.

About Us

I live with my wife and our family in the New Hampshire(NH) Seacoast Region where we’ve lived for over 20 years. Prior to that we lived an hour West of here in one of NH’s largest cities, population 100K+. Not only are we now in a different region of our beautiful state, but we are in completely opposite surroundings.

Living in a mid-sized city poses certain challenges – running in traffic and mapping out realistic routes to name a couple. On the other hand, running in a rural area is much different with options for routes along the water as well as long stretches of quiet vehicle-free roads or trails.

As you can see Northeastern region running never needs to be boring. Drastic climate changes from summer (the Hazy, Hot & Humid 90’s of July/August) to winter (Nor’easter riddled sub-zero’s of January/February) also make for interesting training, clothing and running route decisions.

Market Square ChristmasBased on all of these and many other factors, we’re forced to adapt to our surroundings and a little extra planning goes a long way towards making this sport so enjoyable. Now I feel like I’d like to give a little back. I’m hoping that sharing some of my experiences and knowledge that I’ve gained over the past years may be of help to others and if I can help someone else in any way, I’d like to pay it forward.

Old Dogs and New Tricks

After a hiatus of a few years, spent largely chasing my kids through life and their many sports and school activities, I got back into running in early 2012 when my wife joined a running group through our local church. While I thought I knew plenty about running I soon realized that much had changed in my years away from the sport and I was a “newbie” all over again.

Shoes, gear, gadgets, training, cell phones, and apps (“There’s an app for that!!!”)… So much has changed and I slowly began to re-immerse into the new running community. Over that last 25 years I’ve run races of all sorts, 5Ks to Half-marathons and even a full marathon back in the 90’s. As I’ve grown older I’ve seen my times change from an 8mm to 12mm pace but that simple fact changes none of it for me. I’m a full-fledged Back-Of-The-Packer, who’s in it for a fun run, exercise and health and getting maximum benefit out of it any time I can.

It Takes A Village…Or At Least A Running Group

I hope this website will be helpful to you as whatever type of runner you are. Hopefully this content can assist you in some way, answer some questions that you may have, and even help you to achieve any goals you have in your running endeavors. Whether it’s running shoe or gear related, or helpful reviews of products or even local running routes, I hope there is something here for you.

I also welcome any feedback, information, critiques or comments that you might have in order to make this site more complete and more valuable to others that will come after us. I find the running community to be amazing folks but also very knowledgeable and ready to share their opinions freely.

Run that extra step and remember “Carpe Viam”!!! – (Seize the Road!!!)

All the best,

Kerry
